Take Ninagawa (Higashiazabu)
A solo show by the artist known for his hand-drawn animations with experimental soundtracks, and for his appearances in live animation concerts. At this exhibition he presents That which illuminates the end, vol. 1, the first part of what will eventually be a feature-length animation, along with related drawings and a sculpture. The animation is a visionary tale that includes appearances of spaceships, robots and mermaids. Differing from Matsumoto’s previous animations, it also incorporates the large-format drawings that the artist usually makes as studies before beginning work on his animations.
