Australia and Japan planning biennale

Following three years of arts collaboration that included the Trace Elements exhibition staged last year at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery, Australia and Japan are developing together a biennial they’ve dubbed the Utopia Project.

The project would involve exhibitions, performances, workshops and symposia, and would move to a different city each time in order to share the costs and impact. If the Australian government offers its support, then Australia and Japan will invite eight other Asian-Pacific countries to join the process.

The final exhibition in the most recent a series of art exchanges between the two countries brings together the works of Ito Zon and Louisa Bufardeci opening 28 July at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
