War and Art IV: Terror and Simulacrum of Beauty

9.28 – 10.12
Galerie Aube (Kyoto)

AES+F  LAST RIOT2 Panorama #4 2006

A series of exhibitions limelighted for its bold display of war images, one of the taboos of Japanese modern art history. Part four features works by Kusama Yayoi, Yokoo Tadanori (in collaboration with architect Isozaki Arata) and Sugimoto Hiroshi delving into their memories of the war. Post-war generation artists Martin Creed, Nawa Kohei, Mr., Yanobe Kenji, AES+F, and Sentoki Project, for their part, show works related to war. What associations arise through the juxtaposition and/or linking of these works to one another?
