Take Ninagawa is pleased to announce Shinro Ohtake’s participation in this year’s Hawai‘i Triennial, “Pacific Century – E Ho‘omau no Moananuiākea,” featuring HAWAII BLUE (1999/2022), a zine comprising Hawai’i-themed paintings and photographs taken in Hawai’i. While the original 1999 version measured 5.4 by 4 inches, this new version has been printed at tabloid size in reference to the Lahaina Sun, a newspaper published in Maui in the 1970s and ’80s.
The Hawai’i Triennial is curated by Dr. Melissa Chiu in collaboration with associate curators Dr. Miwako Tezuka and Drew Kahu‘āina Broderick. It is being held at multiple venues in Honolulu.
