■Exhibition summary

Approximately 600 million population. Modern art of the Southeast Asia region where economic development is remarkable attracts big attention from the world. National Art Center, Tokyo, Mori Art Museum, the Southeast Asia contemporary art exhibition that is the largest for a domestic past in the Japan Foundation Asia center for 2,017 years equal to the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations *) establishment 50th anniversary, “sun shower hold until the present from the contemporary art exhibition 1980s of Southeast Asia”.
“The sun shower” (sun-shower) is the mysterious weather that it rains while it is fine, but is seen frequently in the Southeast Asia region of the tropical climate. In addition, in the late 20th century after the colonialism, reach the modernization and democratization via war and a civil war, a dictatorial regime under the Cold War, and in late years economic development and investment, urban development advance, various; is political, and is social, and is the poetic metaphor for the ambiguity of twists and turns in this area and the interpretation that accomplished an economical change.

By the book exhibition, I dig down the development of the art from plural viewpoints in a desire, identity, growth of the freedom and the shadow, community, faith and a tradition, the present age in the after 1980s in Southeast Asia including the revisit of the history and introduce the dynamism and variety to a trend of the art in the international present age while lighting it up.
*As of November, 2016, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laotian ten countries join it

The group ticket performs sale (National Art Center, Tokyo applies a group rate to Mori Art Museum in 15 or more more than 20 people) in each hall.
There is an extra charge for observation deck Tokyo city view of the Mori Art Museum juxtaposition, roof sky deck, the entering a building to the forest arts center gallery.
