Kitano Takeshi solo show in Paris

Film director, actor, and professor at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts, Kitano Takeshi presents his first ever art exhibition next March at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris. Among Japanese artists honored with a solo show at the museum, he joins the ranks of Murakami Takashi and Yokoo Tadanori. Kitano’s paintings and scenario for his film Achilles and the Tortoise led General Director of the Fondation Cartier Hervé Chandès, who has had longstanding interest in Kitano’s work and personality, to initiate the idea of a collaboration. Kitano’s zany site-specific exhibition comprises paintings, video films, and objets.
