In the new works presented here, Gupta moves away from composite sculptures toward objects loaded with symbolism, using commodities such as marble, bronze and steel. For his first major solo show in the UK, the Indian artist, who has been dubbed the ‘sub-continental Marcel Duchamp’ by the Guardian, will also be making a specially created three-dimensional version of the French surrealist’s L.H.O.O.Q. Mona Lisa sporting a mustache. (Olivia Hampton)
