19 February – 13 March 2010
Silverlens Gallery (Manila)

Tammy David   It Takes an Island; or How to be Alone

The first edition of a photography show the gallery plans to make a new annual event. In an age time when photojournalism is being replaced by video and live coverage of world events, STRIP presents the works of three young local documentary photographers who continue to believe in the power a photograph has in telling a story. Tammy David directs the camera at her own personal life; Jake Verzosa documents the different faces of the indigenous peoples of Southeast Asia, highlighting the common essence of the workings of human life; and Veejay Villafranca reveals the lives of gang members in a Manila slum. Three artists; the markedly different documentary themes and styles.
