Jonathan Meese: MISHIMA IS BACK

9.5 – 10.3
Tomio Koyama Gallery (Tokyo) 7F

The German artist who at last year’s Yokohama Triennale presented an inflammatory performance in a space inscribed in large letters with the words ‘Dictatorship of Art’, who played around with photographs of Scarlett Johansson’s face, and made his personality known to everyone. This title of this exhibition suggests an association with Mishima Yukio, but what is it about Mishima that this German artist who was actually born in Tokyo finds so fascinating? The exhibition will feature his latest paintings.
