Janet Cardiff   The 40 parts monet   2001

The final contemporary art exhibition to be held at the Suntory Museum in Osaka, which is scheduled to close its doors at the end of this year. Resonance focuses artistic expression that awakens the spectrum of human emotions, evoking thoughts of life and death. The exhibition brings together 120 works by 20 artists, among them Janet Cardiff’s ‘chorus’ of 40 speakers set in a space looking out at the sea and the Japan debut of a large-scale work by Raqib Shaw. Other artists represented in the show include contemporary masters the likes of Mark Rothko and Anselm Kiefer, and Japanese artists Kusama Yayoi, Odani Motohiko and Kaneuji Teppei. Experiencing will be knowing in what way these works resonate in the hearts and minds of the visitor.
