Kito Kengo: color color

23 January – 27 February 2010
Kenji Taki Gallery (Nagoya)

Installation view at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus (NY) 2009

Kito’s first solo show since his return to Japan after a year of living and working in New York features a large-scale installation composed of florescent light tubes and wood and a series of new paintings. How has New York flavored the artistic expression of the artist known for using readily available, existing materials to create colorful, other-dimensional spaces that engender a floating sensation? This may be the only chance to find out, as Kito will be off to Berlin in February for a two-year residence sponsored by the Agency of Cultural Affairs.
