The Japanese fashion flapped with growth of the Japanese economy in the world and, in the late 20th century, let the originality flower. Kenzo Takada and Issei Miyake begin activity in Europe and America in the 1970s. It is derived by them, and, in 1981, Rei Kawakubo and Yoji Yamamoto make their debut in Paris. The work of a Japanese designer let loose by a European and American sense of beauty was described as ,〈 avant-garde 〉, and a pro and con flew in the expression. However, a Japanese fashion will pull the fashion world before long.
The plane nature, serious consideration of the material, Miyake including the achromatic color, Kawakubo, the work of Yamamoto and others were provided with original expression and a style with the strength not to be kept in the West-like sense of beauty. A designer respecting them exists regardless of nationality, and the size of the influence that they gave the mental fashion world in the West is apparent if the expression that was 〈 avant-garde 〉 watches what is generalized at various levels. It may be said that their biggest achievement is to have opened a door of the originality of the fashion which I remained in inside the frame of attracting eyes from art, and having greatly widened the possibility of the fashion, a Western sense of beauty widely to the world.
Japan which continues gathering eyes always world as place 〉 where 〈 showing the new meaning of continuing producing a style with the originality by freedom after the end of 20th century, and wearing it is cool. Designers full of the next-generation brilliance pursue the new expression of clothes from an original viewpoint to date afterwards.
I add the display in this Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art to the contents of the overseas patrol exhibition that I held in Barbican art gallery (London), house デア クンスト (Munich) and establish the section called “the story to lie hidden in the daily life” newly, and the work of a young fashion designer suggesting future directionality introduces in addition.
Design “in a “sympathy” generation made from act = “Behavior” (behavior) for” days that I talked with the friend who slept who ate in the 2000s through expression “in the generation that showed a concept to live in” of the 90s from “deconstruction and innovation” of the 80s as “Attitude” (manner). It shows the future nature of the Japanese fashion by looking over these changes for 30 years.
