MOT collection
Our 90: 1923-2013
While looking back; forward

In the permanent construction exhibition room of Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art, I set a theme as a nucleus by approximately 4,500 points of collection every session and introduce by charm of the contemporary art from different angles. By this MOT collection, I expand the consciousness for various events to happen in the reality world and pay my attention to the working of writer each which I make a work with what I take it in to the house of oneself positively and gave and introduce by two copies of gentle constitution between 90 to date from 1923.

At first, in the first part of the first floor, I display the work which expressed Japanese social reality vividly from 1920s through 80s. I review Takeshiro Kanokogi in confrontation with the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, Tomoaki Hamada who arrested society based on wartime experience keenly of 100 print 《 new Tokyo view 》, oneself who drew the cityscape which revived, Saburo Aso, Taro Okamoto, Seiji Togou who groped for a postwar image of a human being, the Satoru Araumi male which sincere pictured the manners and customs in the times and working people in more, Yusaku Kamekura whom I appealed to for energy for the rapid economic growth period with a poster, the work of Tadanori Yokoo and others.

In the second part of the third floor, I introduce a work brought about after the 80s when Ayumi of the rapid economic growth greets a turning point. It begins for installation of Yukinori Yanagi who applied eyes to a sign and politics to surround us backed by bubble economy and globalism in Japan, and writers such as ダダン Chris Tant and Takeshi Ozawa facing you in the history native by each way are wide, and relation itself with society, the culture phenomenon watches work group in the times that became various to Takanobu Kobayashi who paid more attention to the details of life and the relationship of the people as a thing forming the history, Sam Taylor = Wood, the work group by Yagi Ryota and others.

I do not leave a left work in the past, and can you not investigate index in the future there by reviewing several degrees in light of our days to change, and to go? The new encounter with such a work thinks about life, the life for the days of us who will follow from now on; if is a chance to be small, is happy.
