[exhibition notice] a “surprising rial” exhibition

This time I start “surprising rial” exhibition Spain, modern art – MUSAC collection – of Latin America on Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art.

In commemoration of the Keicho era trainer Europe mission dispatch 400th anniversary, various events are performed as “business of the 400th anniversary of the interchange in Japan in Spain” in 2013 and 2014. I introduce the work of 27 writers under the theme of “surprising rial” from collection of Castilia イ Leon Museum of Contemporary Art (MUSAC) which I focused on a work after the 90s in Spain as the part in this museum.

There is the genealogy of the realism including ベラスケス and Goya in Spain after the 17th century, and I am succeeded by Madrid realism represented by Antonio Lopez Garcia after the 80s. The rial of the art in Spain does not mean a characteristic in the drawing that an object is reproduced precisely and is it from a way of the deep attachment for the rial of the Spanish writer. I am it out of the greed that a daily personal thing pulls down the thing that the rial is supernatural, a fantastic thing like what is touched by hand on the ground, and is going to talk. I can often see the expression in form called daily scene and “exaggeration” (esperpento) of the thing. It may be said that the “exaggeration” comes out of life and unique strain relations with the death. Like words of poet Garcia Lorca “whom a dead person works as lively than which other countries in Spain”, the death has vigor than life. In the exhibition work of the book exhibition, severe life supported by death made アクティヴェイト (activation) is expressed as realism. The work of the writer of Latin America is included in an exhibition, and, in tropical climate of Central and South America where itself had surprising specificity, a sense of the Spain-like rial transforms it how and shows whether you fermented.

■The highlight of the book exhibition ■
1. “The rial” of the modern people who can describe only the modern picture picture which inherited the realism of the Spanish picture which dug into human life and death deeply is right here. Loneliness, alienation, pursuit, love and hatred of the identity, joy and a tangle, violence, the deep reflection of living. All of dramas of living at the present when I included society, the political issue.

2.Flight of the surprising imagination
I introduce magic-like world transformation and the world of the imagination cannot believe it that this country which produced Dali gives off. Scene – that the room where all the furniture was cut into right in the two in the house, the gentleman of the business suit which strode along the building of the university on a horse, a constellation of the sky seemed to be just copied on the ground. Result of the happy marriage of a sense of the magic of Latin America and the Spanish imagination.

3.Variety of the expression
Variety of the expression as I watch a video tape, space installation, a picture, a sculpture and the eyes. An appreciation experience stimulating at all that is brought about from relaxed time going by on the taciturn picture to the radical sense of speed of the picture to mistake for a document by the media where lenience and severity is rich in.
