New installation by Olafur Eliasson!

From Hara Museum ARC (Gunma)

Sunspace for Shibukawa, an outdoor installation by Olafur Eliasson, has completed!
It is the first permanent museum installation created in Japan for Eliasson, an artist whose work has made a deep impression with audiences throughout the world.

↓Inside of the installation. Lenses integrated into the vaulted ceiling produce rainbows that change as the sun moves.

Approximately every second week, a perfectly round rainbow will be projected onto the convex surface directly opposite the prism through which the light is emitted.

On October 10, an opening ceremony & preview of the installation was held.
Olafur Eliasson the artist, Arata Isozaki the architect of Hara Museum ARC buildings and many other guests participated in the auspicious event.

Also, there was a ceremony to put up a signboard of the Kankai Pavilion (designed by Isozaki, built in July 2008) on this day.
We will report on this ceremony next time!
