William Eggleston: Paris – Kyoto
Dates: June 5 (Sat.) – August 22 (Sun.), 2010
Place: Hara Museum of Contemporary Art (Shinagawa, Tokyo)

This is the first solo exhibition in a Japanese museum of works by William Eggleston, who has received critical acclaims for bringing color photography into the realm of art. Though the present exhibition includes several of the early works which made him famous, the main focus of the show are recent images taken in Paris and Kyoto, as indicated by the exhibition title. http://www.haramuseum.or.jp

Few days ago, there was a screening of Stranded in Canton, the only film work by William Eggleston at the Image Forum Festival 2010 in Tokyo. Taken with a newly purchased portable video camera from 1973 to 1974, the work shows the photographer’s viewpoint of his hometown and people around him.

The festival will travel to Fukuoka, Nagoya and Yokohama. Please visit the following website for further details: http://www.imageforum.co.jp/festival/
