Lecture: Rauschenberg and the globalization of contemporary art (in Japanese only)
Lecturer: Hiroko Ikegami (specially appointed assistant professor, Osaka University Global COE Program)
This lecture looks at the international activities of Rauschenberg and the rapid Americanization of global art during the 1960s, accompanied by various conflicts, and how it led to the globalization of contemporary art today.
Participants can view the ongoing exhibition. The talk will be given in Japanese only.
About the Lecturer
Hiroko Ikegami is an art historian who specializes in post-1945 American art and its global impact. After graduating from International Christian University in Tokyo, Ikegami went on to study modern and contemporary art at Osaka University and Yale University and received her Ph.D. from Yale University in 2007. Her book The Great Migrator: Robert Rauschenberg and the Global Rise of American Art is scheduled to be published by The MIT Press in 2010. Ikegami now serves as an appointed assistant professor for the Osaka University Global COE Program
