William Eggleston exhibition catalogue

From the Hara Museum, Tokyo

Beautiful magnolia flowers are in full bloom at our garden. The aroma of the flowers is like that of jasmine. This week is the best time to enjoy it!

The ongoing exhibition William Eggleston: Paris – Kyoto at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art has been well-received. Below is a glimpse view of the show.

Gallery I, a room with a fireplace and a high ceiling photo: Keizo Kioku

Constructed in the 1930s, the private mansion-turned-museum building of the Hara offers a perfect space for photographic exhibitions as the current show. The artist William Eggleston himself seemed to be pleased with the installation.

Galleries I and II in the first floor showcase 56 photographs and 22 drawings from the “Paris” series (2006-8). In the Galleries III, IV and V in the second floor are exhibited 7 photographs from “William Eggleston’s Guide” and 22 photographs from the “Kyoto” series (2001).

Currently, we are in the process of making an exhibition catalogue. Unlike standard exhibition catalogues, it includes a good amount of installation views to make it more like a documentary. The catalogue is scheduled to be published in late July.
