Kusama Yayoi Dots Obsession 2008 Installation at LA VILLETTE, Paris
The first Aichi Triennale slated to open summer 2010 has announced elements of the festival that are now official. A press conference held 4 December revealed the Triennale’s aim to present works from multiple arts genres based on the inaugural edition theme of ‘Arts and Cities’.
Thirty of the 70 or so Japanese and international contemporary visual artists to be invited have been determined. Those committed to date include Kusama Yayoi, Watanabe Eiji, Nishi Tatzu, Shimabuku, Yang Fudong, Cai Guo Qiang, Cerith Wyn Evans, Koganezawa Takehito, Hans Op de Beeck, Miyanaga Aiko, and Shiga Lieko.
Scheduled performances will include stage works by Jan Fabre, Rosas, chelfitsch, Nibroll, Oriza Hirata + Ishiguro Laboratory (Osaka University) and the opera The Tales of Hoffmann conducted by Asher Fisch and produced by Aguni Jun.
