Submissions for the fifth ‘shiseido art egg’, an annual competition launched in 2007 open to emerging artists of all ages and nationalities resident in Japan, will be accepted beginning June 1. Three artists selected through portfolio reviews will be granted curatorial assistance plus 300,000 yen to cover production costs for staging a solo show at the Shiseido Gallery. Judges Mizusawa Tsutomu (Chief Curator, The Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura & Hayama) and Okabe Aomi (Professor, Musashino Art University) will select the shiseido art egg award winner based on those exhibitions. The previous award winners are Hirano Kaoru, Makihara Taisuke, Miyanaga Aiko and Murayama Goro.
