The trajectory of painter and teacher Hitsuda Nobuya presented through his own works and the works of 19 of his students including Nara Yoshitomo, Sugito Hiroshi and Morikita Shin. The exhibition at the main venue, Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, Nagoya, is structured in two parts: the first, representative works from the different periods of Hitsuda’s career along with early works by his students; and the second, recent works by the latter. The show was organized by Nara, Sugito and Morikita and includes Nara’s recreation of Hitsuda’s studio, as well as portraits of their teacher by each of the exhibiting artists brimming with playfulness and warmth. The exhibition is a billed as pre-event of Aichi Triennale 2010.
