The Mexico-born (1975), Los Angeles-based artist who subtitled his conceptual foray at the 2008 Yokohama Triennale ‘a site with the soundtrack of its recent past’. For this solo outing he premieres the feature-length film, Unspoken Dailies, together with a related installation. The unedited 66-minute film documents an actor perusing the film script for the first time. Nothing is said, nothing ‘happens’; or does it? Has it happened within us, the viewer? The posing of questions and expressive methods and qualities found in this as in many of Garcia Torres’ works also reference and call to mind the concerns and works of precursors in art history.
Unspoken Dailies will be screened three times a day (13:00, 15:00, 18:00) during the duration of the exhibition.
