From the Hara Museum, Tokyo
On July 31 (Sat.) and August 1 (Sun.), we held a concert featuring Yann Tomita at the museum courtyard.
Sounds produced by the SERGE MODULAR MUSIC SYSTEM, BUCHLA MUSIC BOX and SOLAR BUG BOX (where tones are altered by sunlight, temperature and humidity) were mesmeric and totally cosmic. The Caribbean steel drum made a very clear sound because of the summer heat. The whispering voices of Suzi Kim and Yumiko Ohno (DOOPEES). The chirp of cicadas, the clattering of trains passing by, children laughing…smokes coming out from mosquito coils, fresh green lawn, cold beer…combined together, these elements made the performances extraordinary.
“Expanding your consciousness adds a flavor to your life.”
“The most crucial moments in music are the beginning and ending of the sound.”
