Take Ninagawa is pleased to announce Aki Sasamoto‘s solo exhibition at the Queens Museum, New York, “Point Reflection,” opening on December 6.

Sasamoto will premiere Point Reflection (2023), a new media work and companion piece to her performance/installation Sink or Float (2022), originally commissioned for the 59th Venice Biennale, “The Milk of Dreams,” curated by Cecilia Alemani. Sasamoto will premiere her live performance of Point Reflection (2023) on December 15.

Questioning and channeling queries about the nuances of everyday life, Sasamoto arranges sculpturally altered found objects into installations that then serve as the sites for her improvisational performances. The performances in turn generate feedback with both the installation and the conditions of the site, developing in response to sounds, objects, and moving bodies. The constructed stories Sasamoto relates in the performances seem highly personal at first, yet are also open to varying degrees of access, relation, and reflection by others.
