At sunset on 11 December, Cai Guo-Qiang kicked off his solo show at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (USA) with Fallen Blossoms: Explosion Project, set against the Museum’s east façade. The show also features a series of four gunpowder drawings titled Light Passage and sculptural installation (through 21 March). A video projection of the explosion event is on display along with two new works at the The Fabric Workshop and Museum (through 1 March). The two shows, titled Fallen Blossoms, were conceived as an homage to the former director of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the late Anne d’Harnoncourt (1943-2008), addressing themes of ‘memory’, ‘loss’ and ‘regeneration’.
