Mika Ninagawa: Self-image Exhibition Catalogue 2,970 yen (tax included)
The photographer Mika Ninagawa has won wide acclaim for her bright, vivid photographs in vibrant “Ninagawa Color.” In contrast to these, however, she has created a parallel line of images which explore the darker dimension of distortion, decline, stagnation and even death.
This catalogue includes images from Ninagawa’s noir series on the transience of life; her PLANT A TREE series of cherry blossoms scattered on the surface of river; and her series of monochrome self-portraits created intermittently since the start of her career. These images, which include works appearing in public for the first time, present a “self-image” described by the artist as being “close to her raw and unguarded self.”
