The Museum Shop [ARC]

News from the Museum Shop at Hara Museum ARC (Gunma)

At ARC, through the Golden Week holiday weekend, we are enjoying the peak viewing season for the Ichiyo variety of the yaezakura double-flowered cherry, which serves as a stunning backdrop to outdoor installations by Olafur Eliasson and Jean-Michel Othoniel.

The Museum Shop is happy to announce new items that complement the beauty of the new season. Emi Takazawa is a creator who uses the traditional Yokoburi-style of silk embroidery native to the city of Kiryu in Gunma prefecture to meticulously create individual petals which she assembles into delicate corsages.

The soft sheen of the silk petals adds a touch of elegance to any outfit.

The shop is also introducing new items made by shuo, the creative team made up of Meumi Hoshi and Naoko Yoshida. These are fukusa silk wrapping cloths and juzu rosary beads. The juzu is a string of soft-color natural stone beads, while the fukusa is a delicate square of silk cloth that comes in an assortment of colors. These hand-made formal kimono accessories are appealing not only to the eye, but also to the touch. We invite you to hole them in your own hands the next time you visit the shop!
