From Hara Museum ARC, Gumma
Clear Signs, Vivid Tones (2012), Nameless Play (2012)
(Exhibition view, Gallery C)
Earlier this month, Tetsuro Kano took up residence in Shibukawa to carry out an artist residence project at Hara Museum ARC. His progress was reported on Twitter. Today, we present the results.
Naturplan (2012) (installation)
Sparrows are a common sight in the front garden, where Kano’s artworks hold fruit or bird feed (catching them on camera is hard to do).
Naturplan (2012) (installation)
Fruit that decay…
The look of the artworks changes with the light.
Kano makes colorful manufactured items like pet or garden accessories, placed to be encountered by creatures or natural things like birds, animals and plant life whose response to them don’t necessarily coincide with that of humans (in other words, things that live according to a different value system). Through their responses, he explores the meaning and possibilities of the space in which they are placed. His thought-provoking and elegantly expressed works are presently on dispaly indoors and outside at Hara Museum ARC. Don’t miss the chance to see them!
