Shinro Ohtake – Awarded the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Minister’s Award for Fine Arts

Take Ninagawa congratulates Shinro Ohtake on his selection for the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Minister’s Award for Fine Arts, 2013-2014. The award is being presented to Ohtake in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the following exhibitions held in Japan and internationally in the previous year:

– The site-specific work MEKON, produced for the Setouchi Triennale 2013, on view from March 20 to November 4, 2013.

– The installation Scrapbooks #1-66 (1977-2012), presented at the 55th Venice Biennale, “The Encyclopedic Palace,” on view from June 1 to November 24, 2013.

– The solo exhibition, “NEWNEW,” at the Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art (MIMOCA), held July 13 to November 4, 2013.

– The solo exhibition, “OKUSOKU / Velocity of Memory” at the Takamatsu City Museum of Art, held July 17 to September 1, 2013.

Established in 1951, the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Minister’s Award for Fine Arts is one of Japan’s most prestigious distinctions in the fields of art and culture.
