This film is based Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, in which a young girl follows a rabbit and wanders into an eerie, mysterious and magical realm. Combining live action and stop-motion animation, it is the first feature film in three years from the Czech puppet animation master Jan Švankmajer. A baguette bristling with nails, a sock caterpillar, a wig that scuttles all over the place, a pocket watch drenched in butter. These and other bizarre objects, and creepy yet humorous and lovable characters, weave the delightful tapestry of this otherworldly wonderland.
