Tetsuya Nakamura amazed the world in 2003 by placing a cabin cruiser in a Hermès window. This time around has risen to the challenge of fostering a warm Christmas scene. The setting is one room in Paris, where Nakamura has taken leave from normal realism to depict a dreamlike domain. Portrayed in one window is a blue-washed world, conjuring up images of the sky before dawn. The room is appointed in the style of abstract chandeliers and sofas typically found in his creations. The other window houses a chic red backdrop, presented in a motif of mirrors and chairs.

Nakamura himself handcrafted all of the furniture creations in this illusionary apartment. Plastic molded forms are painted in mat tones, with a gold-colored finish around their edges. The wooden floor fits the mode of a classic Paris apartment, while the walls are scattered with soft gold-colored stars.

A man and woman are in this tranquil scene. They relax in the warm apartment on a winter night savoring their moments together. The long winter nights are ideal for spending time in such fulfillment. The happy moments of dining or otherwise the time to stay together seems to pass quickly. The windows present the beautiful moments that emerge when people are liberated from the shackles of time. Finally, within this cozy realm, the vibrant curves and handsome forms of Nakamura’s furniture gently envelop Hermès products. With this dream-drenched vista, the theme for this year “Paris in the Air” comes to a graceful end.
