Commissioned by The University Art Galleries, University of California, Irvine
I hold an exhibition based on three different viewpoints to reach the being bombed 70th anniversary in 2015, and to look back toward the past of Hiroshima that received atom bomb damage titled “a trilogy staring at Hiroshima” in Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, and to stare at the trace of the revival, and to think about “from in “now” and this” consecutively.
A book exhibition is always the exhibition which aimed at opening the opportunity of talks from a work and an investigation, the activity by the modern artist about changing “harmony = harmony” in East Asia area.
Interchange of a person and the culture is active and attracts you, and, on the other hand, East Asia in the relationship influencing is the area where the political friction does not die out. “The harmony” by the book exhibition is movement to be conscious of to build the cooperation system and has the one side that it can be sometimes for pressure opposite to the variety. By the book exhibition, I arrest the work which artists create with a mirror to project the times that there is in a change on and, through art expression tied to society, investigate now of the East Asia from the ground of Hiroshima.
Imagination to recognize that there are various viewpoints to stand, and to do how to catch different at all seeing from a position, and to take that is different as for one historic phenomenon modern; is demanded more and more. I think about a problem in today’s society through art in order to cultivate new relations by looking back on this in Hiroshima having a dire disaster of the being bombed in memory, and thinking about from this.
