11 years of the turbulence to look back on with Taro Okamoto, Yasuo Kazuki, Kunitaro Suda, Tsuguji Fujita, approximately 70 writers including Shigeru Mizuki, approximately 200 points of works.

I do the “1945 +-5 age” exhibition after 1945 (Showa 20) and am the anteroposterior exhibition taking up art of Japan for 5 years each. Japan invites defeat in the latter half in Japan-China War to begin in 1937 (Showa 12), the times of Asia, the Pacific War from 1941 (Showa 16) in the first half and hits it in the times done occupational administration by allied powers. In Japanese modern history, it may be said that it is the time of the turbulence most. The artist performed what kind of expression in the severe times, and would you build society and what kind of relations?
In this time when it became the all-out war that war mobilized all every power of the country as well as the armaments, and was performed, the activity of the art was controlled strictly, and it was demanded that I cooperated with war accomplishment. Painters produced the pictures which honored the people after a war image and the gun publicly. However, there is factor not to be all the more over in the war image, and the working of the again individual artist is not limited to war cooperation. While they were rolled up in the huge whirlpool of the times, artists showed a variety of movement. This exhibition introduces such a movement by a little less than 200 points of works mainly involving the oil painting image.
