Jeff Koons’ BMW art car

Jeff Koons, design concept for 17th BMW Art Car

Art Cars are cars that BMW has commissioned artists to transform through painting and other means into artworks. The project began in 1975, and the collection, which was featured in Japan in an exhibition in 2005, now 16 in number, includes cars by Andy Warhol, Jenny Holzer and Olafur Eliasson. In the making is car number 17 by Jeff Koons, the design drawings for which have been made public. The real thing will make its public debut in June at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, and participate in the Le Mans 24-hour race soon thereafter.
