The winners of this year’s Shell Art Award, established in 1956 by Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. with the aim of discovering promising young contemporary artists, are official. The jury headed by Motoe Kunio (Professor, Tama Art University) with Nakai Yasuyuki (Chief Curator, National Museum of Art, Osaka) and Iemura Tamayo (Independent curator) decided that none of the submitted works were deserving of the Grand Prix, awarding Yoshida Shinnosuke’s In a Sea of Trees a Quasi Grand Prix. All 37 shortlisted works including the three Jury Award and three Honorable Mention winners will be exhibited from 11 – 15 November at Daikanyama Hillside Forum.
