Sotheby’s contemporary-art evening sale in London on 10 February soared past its pre-sale estimates of £32-45 million to deliver total sales of £54,074,450. Forty-seven of the 77 lots on offer were from the Austrian-based Sammlung Lenz Schönberg collection assembled by Gerhard and Anna Lenz, of which Yves Klein’s F88 (1961) was the top-selling lot at £3,289,250 (est. £2.8-3.5 million). The top lot of the sale overall was Willem de Kooning’s Untitled XIV (1983), fetching £3,961,250 (est. £2-3 million).
