Kenneth Noland (1924-2010)

American abstract painter, Kenneth Noland, died on 5 January. He was 85. According to his wife Paige Rense, the editor in chief of Architectural Digest, the cause was cancer. Originally from North Carolina, Noland studied painting at the experimental Black Mountain College and in Paris. He is best known for his brilliantly colored abstract Color Field paintings of concentric circles, chevrons and stripes.
