Call for entries for the Tokyo Midtown Award 2009

The Tokyo Midtown Award, established in 2008 with distinct art and design segments, is calling for entries for its 2009 awards. The deadline for entries is July 13.

The Art Competition seeks ideas for artworks expressing ‘Japan value’ (unique Japanese values, sensibilities and skills) to be exhibited in the ‘glass-case passageway’ of the Tokyo Midtown B1F plaza. Four proposals passing the preliminary and secondary rounds of judging will receive production subsidies of 1 million yen each. The award-winning works – one grand prix (1 million yen), one second place (500,000 yen) and two excellence prizes (300,000 yen each) – will be exhibited in the passageway for approx. six months. The judging this year will be conducted by Igarashi Yakenobu, Kojima Yayoi, Shimizu Toshio, Nakayama Daisuke and Hachiya Kazuhiko.
