The Opéra Bastille celebrates its twentieth anniversary with Am Anfang (Beginning), an original work conceived and staged (including sets and costumes) by artist Anselm Kiefer (music Jörg Widmann) from 7-14 July. The thoroughly Kieferesque ruins-like stage set had been a talking point well before opening night.
