The Spanish newspaper El Periodico de Catalunya published an article in its July 24 online edition claiming that the classic Spanish Civil War photograph Loyalist Militiaman at the Moment of Death, Cerro Muriano, September 5, 1936 by master of photojournalism Robert Capa (1913-54) was staged. The newspaper’s investigation was triggered by a travelling retrospective of Capa’s war photojournalistic work that opened at Museo de Arte de Cataluña in Barcelona earlier this month.
