ART HK10 opens to public tomorrow

Art Fair

The third edition of Hong Kong’s modern and contemporary art fair previews today with more than 150 galleries participating from 29 countries. Alongside name galleries from major cities throughout Asia Pacific, Europe and the US are many of Japan’s leading contemporaries. While the fair deals primarily in large-scale works with large-scale price tags, this year’s SCMP | ART FUTURES section dedicated to galleries under five-years old selected based on a proposal for a single or two-artist presentation features 16 galleries, two of which hail from Tokyo.

Tonight’s vernissage will heat up with Yamaguchi Noriko’s art performance, Keitai Girl. And among this year’s Backroom Conversations series of panel discussions, MOT chief curator Hasegawa Yuko will join colleagues from museums in and outside Japan on the evening of the 27th to discuss institutional collections and the history of Japanese Contemporary Art.
