Christie’s NY First Open posts positive results

Christie’s First Open Post-War and Contemporary Art sale on 11 March realized a total of $7,552,900 from 146 (of 168) lots sold. The top lot was Wayne Thiebaud’s Valley River (1995, oil on canvas) fetching $842,500 (est. $200-300,000), followed by Kusama Yayoi’s Repetitive-Vision (1963, stamps on paper) at $818,500 (est. $100-150,000), setting a world auction record for a work on paper by the artist.
