2009 BMW-Paris Photo Prize winners

The 2009 BMW – Paris Photo Prize, reserved for artists represented by galleries participating in the eponymous international photography trade fair opening today, was awarded to the Dutch photographer Karijn Kakebeeke (The Empty Quarter Gallery, Dubai) for Khadija’s Dream, an image of the Afghan women’s first encounter with a soccer ball. Japanese photographer Orimoto Tatsumi (DNA Gallery, Berlin) was awarded a special jury distinction for his self-portrait taken with his mother who suffers from Alzheimer’s.
