2010 Three Shadows Photography Award Winners

The results of the second Three Shadows Photography Award, established in 2008 to recognize new talent in contemporary Chinese art photography, are official. The awards were presented at the opening ceremony of Caochangdi PhotoSpring 2010, now underway in Beijing, and the winner selected from more than 200 entries is Zhang Xiao. Zhang, who is known for his portrayals in subdued hues of changing contemporary China, will receive also receive 80,000RMB in prize money. The two new prizes added to the lineup this year – the Shiseido Prize for Best Female Photographer and the Tierney Foundation Fellowship – went to Wang Huan and Huang Xiaoliang. The 20 shortlisted works are on exhibit at Three Shadows Photography Centre through June 15.
