Iran-born artist Shirin Neshat was awarded the the Silver Lion for Best Director at the 66th Venice International Film Festival for her first feature Women Without Men (Germany, Austria, France). The score for the film was composed by Sakamoto Ryuichi. The Golden Lion for Best Film went to Lebanon by Samuel Maoz.
Neshat spoke about the film and her collaboration with Sakamoto in an interview published in ART iT 12 (2006). Sakamoto in turn spoke about his collaboration with Neshat in an interview in the same issue.
