Comics museum opens in France

On 20 June, the Musée de la bande dessinée (Museum of Comics) opened in the French city of Angoulême, a city also known for hosting the annual Festival international de la bande dessinée d’Angoulême (Angoulême International Comics Festival). The newly opened museum not only houses comics from France and the rest of Europe but also from the United States, along with manga by Osamu Tezuka and other Japanese artists. It has more than 8,000 original comic drawings on display as well as information on the history of the comic and techniques for their production.
