Exhibition
The first of a series of graduation shows by students of Oil & Japanese Painting at Tama Art University Kamonoge opens Tuesday 9 February. The department is characterized in its quest to foster new forms of expression in the field of painting by first erasing the boundary between oil and Japanese-style painting to provide learning that spans the techniques and traditions of both, as well as by establishing a division for working students, offering daytime and evening curriculums. The off-campus show in Ginza features paintings on No. 150 (227.3 x 181.8 cm) canvases by 44 fourth-year students. The on-campus, roundup show in March features works by these students together with works by 13 graduate students of the evening division. These students will also show work in the Joint Graduation Exhibition of 5 Art Universities in Tokyo at The National Center of Art.
