Kaikai Kiki opens new space in Nakano

Installation view of works at Hidari Zingaro, 2010

Murakami Takashi’s art production company, Kaikai Kiki, has opened a new space called Hidari Zingaro in the otaku shopping mall, Nakano Broadway. The gallery is said to take its name from the legendary Edo-period sculptor Hidari Zingoro. The new space opened on 28 April with a mix of works (on display and sale) by Kaikai Kiki artists, posters and ceramics. Future plans call for solo shows by Fujishiro Uso in June, and by Kurose Yohei and Umezawa Kazuki in July, as well as by artists involved in the stir-causing GEISAI talk and exhibition, Chaos*Lounge.
