Japan’s top media arts festival ? from which the grand prize winning work of last year’s animation division, Tsumiki no ie by Kato Kunio, went on to win the Academy Award for animated short film – will begin accepting entries for 2009 on 16 July.
One Grand Prize, four Excellence Prizes and one Encouragement Prize are awarded to outstanding works in each of the Festival’s four divisions: art, entertainment, animation, and manga. All award-winning works will be exhibited at the National Art Center, Tokyo in February 2010.
