Maeda Shoko receives Renaissance Arts Prize

Kobe-born, London-based artist Maeda Shoko was awarded the 2009 Renaissance Arts Prize for Best Non-Italian Artist in the Photography Section by the Italian Cultural Institute London. The Prize, awarded to young artists working in the United Kingdom and Italy, was established in 2008; it was awarded for the first time this year to photography and video works. Maeda graduated from Keio University in Tokyo in 1999, and received her MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College in London, where she remains based.
